HILLSBORO SLATE
Hillsboro has been under the thumb of developers and special interests for decades. We’ve seen their handiwork in the recent spate of data center applications designed to skirt a state moratorium.
True reforms are being made, spearheaded by Councilor Kipperlyn Sinclair who is running for Washington County Commissioner for District 4(see our Washington County Slate[1] ). But the current citywide moratorium only lasts 120 days. Reforms are needed to shift the city’s economic vision from industries that squander land, water, and energy in exchange for few jobs, low taxes, and payments in lieu of taxes that don’t trickle down to residents.
