This Monday, Ask City Council to Remove City Manager Bill Reid

Thank you to the 156 people from in and near North Plains who signed the petition to remove Bill Reid as City manager. If you haven't signed already, please sign now and share the petition with your networks.

Our City Council is working hard to improve the city and your quality of life, but they can't succeed with a City Manager at the helm who:

  • Continues to plan an unnecessary 500-acre expansion for data centers and warehouses next to the homes and elementary school in Sunset Ridge, despite the city's strong opposition

  • Has wasted an estimated $866,000 on planning for expansion. We don't know how much because he...

  • Hasn't completed an audit of the city budget for 4 years

  • Hasn't addressed the 30 serious findings in the 2022 audit alone

  • Hasn't completed an audit of the Urban Renewal District since 2019, while potentially spending URA funds on unauthorized projects like planning for a major city expansion.

  • Has denied URA grants to downtown businesses that the funding was intended for

  • Monopolizes city power and prevents oversight by appointing himself as Acting Finance and Planning Director, as well as City Manager

We encourage you to testify at City Council this Monday, May 18, to make the City Manager's failings public and to encourage City Council to remove him. There is more than enough reason to do so. Whether you live in or near North Plains, you have the right to share your thoughts. Here's how:

  • Written testimony (can be any length) sent to info@northplains.gov.

  • Spoken testimony at the City Council meeting on Monday, May 18, at 7pm. Make sure your testimony is no longer than 2 minutes. And please be very respectful of our Councilors who are working hard!

Thank you for your participation in democracy,

Friends of Smart Growth‍ ‍
